Last night, my internet was working fine. I had AVG anti virus, but after hearing bad things about it, i uninstalled it, %26 replaced it with McAfee 30 day trial. Installed it all, had to restart the comp and afterwards, i couldn't connect to the internet. Spent 3 or so hours trying all troubleshooters/help guides etc but still couldn't connect to Internet. Got various error messages such as 'Runtime Error 10022 - Socket not bound, invalid address or listen in not invoked prior to accept' 'Machine appears to have invalid IP address'.
Don't know what any of this means, so after restarting no less than 20 times, trying AOL connection fix-its etc, nothing was connecting me to Net so decided to uninsall the McAfee anti-virus, restarted and then it was fine, went straight onto internet, although now with no virus protection.
Tried another virus protecter, Avast, same thing happened. Working anti-virus but no internet?
So I cannot get both Internet and anti-virus! Argh, help me??

I have used McAfee for a few years without any problems, however my niece was using it also and pretty similar to yourself, she's had lots of problems ie: Couldn't connect to the Internet etc.
She got so frustrated and removed McAfee a few days ago and now uses "Google's" free anti virus and now everything is fine for her.
