I can not open all 3 drives of my laptop. If I right click on any of the drives it is not opened.?

I can not open all 3 drives of my laptop. If I right click on any of the drives it is not opened. The open and explorer button in the shortcut menu is replaced with garbage/peculiar letters. So I can not open the drives. Device manager says that the device is working properly. I used the "PC Recovery" option with "destructive recovery", it formatted the C and D drives, recovered XP and application files...after restarting C and D now opens. But still E can be opened. The problem is that E is the recovery partition with 7/8 gb..."HP_RECOVERY". During PC recovery It tells me not to format this drive...since this is the recovery partition..if I format it...the PC will not recover in future. So I did not format E and problem exists. I tried to clean the virus using Mcafee 7 %26 deleted the auturuns...but failed to clean the virus. It can only block the "shell open" action but can not clean the virus. I also tried avast virus cleaner but failed. Can anyone please help me? What should I do?

If it was me, I'd get all the important data files off and burn them into a CD-R or DVD-R and then take it in to have the hard drive reformatted and the OS reloaded by a qualified technician. Be sure and tell them the exact nature of the problem and what you've done to correct it so far. They can wipe the drive in a manner that will insure the virus is actually deleted and reinstall the OS and any software. At that point it is simply a matter of putting copies of your files back in the correct directories (folders) and resuming life without the bug.
