Why does everyone seem to think AVG is the best?

When it is pretty bad. Is it because it has a free edition? If so, so does avast! or Avira. Why? just why?

Because it is easy to download and once installed you don't need to do anything to it or update it. And once people start saying its good the word spreads and people who don't know much about antivirus and security presume it is good because people have told them it is.

Why do people such as my self prefer AVG or avast

simple they do not bog down your system ,

#2 it updates everyday

#3 it catches more issues then NOrton or Mcafee thats for sure

I have been using AVG for over 3 years. and my pc has remained virus free . I have even ran a few online scans such as kaspersky and they have never found a issue
Because it never bothers them.

Unfortunately, the reason it never bothers them is because its detection rates are so poor that it rarely catches anything.
Because it is the best. Why? It's easy to install and manage, low on system resources and effective at isolating threats, even the free version. I would go so far to say that the free version is so effective that it can compete with many other commercial anti-virus packages. Why pay for good anti-virus software if you can get a great one for free?
Because Avira does not scan pop3. Avast you have to register.

So i use Avg and have not had a virus in over 8 years.
