when you say you have run avg and avast did you run them at the same time???

if you did then that can corrupt a system!

have a look at the lens and make sure theres no hair or lint stuck in front of it. If there is this can cause erratic mouse movement because it flickers in front of the lens when the body of the mouse moves.

I reckong this is probably the culprit.

If not, grab a mouse from a friend and plug it into your pc. if that works its your mouse that needs replacement.

What is a really good program can detect and remove Trojans?

My PC has been running a little slow and freezing at times with hardly anything loaded on it, I think I may have a Trojan(s) I have avast home edition and it usually catches some infections and I also have spyware doctor (full version). I run auslogics boost speed to clean up junk files and other stuff to help with the slowness but it is not really helping. I have windows Vista so certain programs may not work on it.

Vista does use a lot of your RAM but most programs are completely compatible. It's good that your using Avast!. Now you just need to get some more anti-spyware.

No single anti-spyware application is perfect so I recommend using Ad-aware and Spybot (they are free). Other free anti-spyware programs would be AVG Anti-spyware (formally Ewido), Super Anti-spyware and SpywareBlaster.

I strongly recommend using FireFox, it's a far better and safer alternative to Internet Explorer. If you add-on McAfee SiteAdvisor, it will warn you of potentially harmful sites. I also recommend CCleaner which is a free system optimization and privacy tool.

Running these programs in Safe Mode (tap F8 after powering on the computer and choose to boot to Safe Mode) can be more effective.

What security softwares i need ?

I am using windows xp. Avast 4.8 Home Ed. Windows automatic updates and windows firewall turned on. Apart from these what security softwares in need to install ? Pls advice.

What security softwares i need ?vista

Macfee or Norton for virus protection should be sufficient

What security softwares i need ?antispyware

Avast is the best antivirus in my opinion, stick with it. If you want a good firewall zone alarm is great and they have a free version. You might want to get adaware if you have a tendancy to download bonzai buddy and all that other simley central garbage.
good anti virus and anti spyware

Is their any free and small sized antivirus program i can use?

THAT DOES NOT TAKE UP ALL YOUR MEMORY SPACE AND THAT DOES NOT SLOW DOWN YOUR PC. IVE USED AVAST, AVG, NORTON, MCAFEE, THEIR ALL SLOWS DOWN YOUR PC.

Is their any free and small sized antivirus program i can use?windows

AVG does not slow down your pc totaly like norton. it is just its start up and scheduling options. i use AVG i'm 128RAm only and i disables all its unneccesary start-ups. (knowing the fact that i can run it manually) and still it saves me from threats.

forget avg 80% detection ...thats not good ...the newbies are all in love with it ...avast is pretty good ...im using avira here is a link for free download ...is really good on system ...and 96% detection rate is not bad at all ...

Try the free virus scanners at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-sAFtLsc8e... and see which one will help you .
Then no, none that I know of. I would recommend Nod32, but it's not free. It has a minimal memory footprint though. Also, using all caps is obnoxious.
AVAST! is free, on acess protection dosnt slow ur PC down at all but has stopeed me gettin viruses so many times--great u should try it
Avira AntiVir PE Classic for sure! It is one of the lightest AV's available - currently using less than 10MB memory on my PC, yet it has one of the best detection rates and heuristics of all the AV products.

AVG
avast and avg slows down your pc?

i dont think so, ive try avast and avg (both, the free version of course), they are ok for me.

but for the best free antivirus, try Avira Antivir PE Classic.

hate to burst your buble folks but norton 2008 is very light on resources and remains the best protection software. now go get a job so you can buy it. after all thats why u dont like norton right? because you cant afford it.\

EDIT: hi peace and 75% of the detections are false positives. grow up.

avast
Hai,

I will recommend KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY bcoz, it will disinfects the virus hacked in ur applications while

Norton/Eset - Slows down ur pc speed,it doesn`t

disinfect jus deletes.
No virus scanner can detect or remove all viruses.

The best I know of are:

FREE --

AVG Virus Scanner

PAID SUBSCRIPTION --

Norton Internet Security

Trend Micro PC-Cillin %26lt;-- I use this one

.. It is not advised to have more than one virus scanner installed at any one time.
use ESET NOD32 (antivirus + antispyare)

works great on home computers.
the best hands down is V-Com's System Suite

the best cost effective/free one is Avast's Avast Anti-Virus

  • Will my computer work properly if I delete these files? They are decompression bombs, but...?

The three files reported during the scan to be decompression bombs (Avast) are all related to this program I have, VIA HD Audio Deck. I don't know much about computers, so my question is: can I delete these files? If I do it, will something stop functioning? The program controls sound, doesn't it? Will I still have sound if I delete these?

Here's the path to one of the files:

    C:\Program Files\VIA\VIAudioi\HDADeck\Skin.bmp\Skin...

For the other two it doesn't show full path, just

    E:\Driveri\...\Skin.bmp

I looked into this folder 'Driveri', there are some other folders and zip files, mainly related to VIA.

Can anyone advise me what do do? They're just .bmp, so nothing will happen if I delete them, right?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Will my computer work properly if I delete these files? They are decompression bombs, but...?abtuvurys 2005

if you planning to delete that file make sure to create a system restore before you do, click start - all programs - accessories - system tools, and create a backup if u are using XP. then if theres something goes wrong after you delete that file you can restore your system to the earlier time, well i thinks it just safely to delete it if you really want to...

Will my computer work properly if I delete these files? They are decompression bombs, but...?antivirus programs

Yes you can delete only in drive E

Dont delete in drive C, because VIA uses that .bmp file.
Spyware doc is ok - but will grind you comp to a halt - use an online scanner - housecall antivirus from trend micros - do a search under google - this will find and problems with spyware/virus and has no over head or download
do not delete these files. thjere has been a recent problem with the current version of avast antivirus which makes it recognise seemingly harmless programs as if they are viruses. dso not follow its advice and uninstall avast immediately,

    instead download spyware doctor

I have evaluated it and it is completely uninstallable. I've had some good luck removing pesky infections with it. Nothing is a sure thing, but you can usually get rid of malware without reformatting. Beware of anti-malware programs that are actually malware themselves. Be sure to do a google search on any antispyware product. I know that the following free programs are legitimate:
