Yes, AVG is great because it doesn't slow down your computer like Norton or MacAfee.

I use AVG Free Edition on all 6 of my computers plus Spybot Search and Destroy. I run the Standard windows Firewall on the Network Card. I use XP on some of the computers with XPantispy and XPsafe programs set at recommended. I have not had the problems that people always talk about.

I would say in general you need to determine what you do on the internet and exactly what kind of programs you need to use. It is never a good idea to run two programs that do the same thing. They could conflict with each other and cause problems.
Yes, it is good to use both together. In fact, avast has been catching more virus than AVG (my experience).
To date it's never a good idea to run more than one antivirus. AVG and Avast are both pretty good. Look at the feature set each has and decided which one you like better.
I have never used avast, I use to us avg it is a great anti virus (free version) but the free version is lacking in a few components, but you get what you pay for. I have heard that it is not good to use two anti viurses that it will produce false positives. Good luck.
use one or the other dont use both and avg is better than the other. I like avg because you dont get any pop ups or so on always asking you to upgrade like you do with other solutions.
rule number 1, it is bad to use 2 anti virus utilities at the same time. it doesn't just slow your system, their efficiency is also reduced in that manner.
